Our History
Turning Point United Pentecostal Church Inc. was established in Chester, Virginia in January of 2014 by Founder & Lead Pastor Daniel Walter. Before then, as an Evangelist, Rev. Daniel and Sis. Tracy Walter were residing in Silsbee, Texas with their children Jasmaine and Joshua. They based their evangelistic ministry from Abundant Life United Pentecostal Church under the leadership of Bishop Douglas White. He received his local ministerial credentials from the Texas District United Pentecostal Church International Board. He, upon furthering his Biblical education, received his general ministerial license and ordination certificate by the Virginia District United Pentecostal Church International Board.
Pastor Walter is no stranger to ministry. He received and accepted his call into the ministry in January of 2000. In 2003 he began to travel across the country as a Full-time Evangelist. His ministry also carried him abroad to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in foreign countries. God continues to open many doors in many cities and states across our nation and internationally for him to minister to the Body of Christ.
His unique style of anointed preaching coupled with being delivered from drugs, alcohol, gang affiliation, and a very troubled past offers a wide range of passionate possibilities to anyone searching to achieve success in Christ. He loves God, his wife and kids, all of God’s people, and he genuinely looks for the best in everyone.
After evangelizing full-time for 11 years Evangelist Daniel and Sis. Walter answered the call from God to plant a church within the beautiful city of Chester, VA. The first worship service was held in a small conference room in a local hotel with just a handful of people that were hungry for something different. They immediately began to teach Bible studies within their home and in the homes of people that desired to know more while getting closer to God. By doing this it created a steady stream of new inquisitive people that were seriously searching for and wanting something very real that they could actually feel.
This steady stream of new believers and worshipers caused Turning Point to move from that small conference room of that local hotel to a larger auditorium inside of C.E. Curtis Elementary School in August of 2016. The original church met in a small conference room that became too small for the numerical growth it experienced. The church in its current location is experiencing spiritual and numerical growth and we are excited to see where God takes us from here.
Looking to the future, Pastor Walter and the members of Turning Point seeks to spread the very same powerful yet simple truth. The truth is that the God we serve is very real and He’s tangible enough to feel.
